If you’re looking for a pretty standard run-of-the-mill kind of Ops role and you think middle-management feels like safe, comfortable territory, we wish you all the best with your search – but this isn’t the role for you! If, however, you’re excited by the prospect of taking on a highly visible new position at the heart of a company that is going places, then please read on…
CTSG is continuing its expansion plan and we are looking for an experienced, professional, and forward-thinking Operations Manager to join us. We need someone who can collaborate and act as a change agent, supporting the Operations Director with the integration of a new system, whilst helping to develop core processes and procedures designed to optimise performance and support our scale-up….and nailing the necessary, day-to-day. We are a small business and this is a big role. You’ll be required to think strategically, whilst performing tactically – this will be a very hands-on role requiring you to take full ownership of all activity from the point at which we get the go-ahead from our clients, through to the final client invoice being paid. We can’t stress enough: FULL ownership. So, that’s everything from ordering materials, scheduling jobs, monitoring performance, managing budgets, ensuring project milestones & client SLA’s are met, and contracts are compliant…through to Health and Safety, fleet management and quality control. You’ll be assisted by a small and freshly-shaped team who will report directly into you, plus you will have ultimate responsibility for our field-based engineers – so it’s critical that you can balance operational efficiency with a nurturing approach to leadership.
In essence, your responsibility will be to ensure that we can execute everything we commit to our clients at the point of sale – on time, within budget and whilst hitting any KPI’s. Our reputation means everything, which means this role comes with some pressure – it will be unpredictable, chaotic and demanding….but the potential for job satisfaction and that ‘Friday high’ at the end of week is huge!
Core working hours are 40per week, Monday to Friday. This role will be office-based, located in Northampton – but it’s typical for us to run multiple projects concurrently throughout the UK so we’ll need you to be flexible in your approach.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate in 3 words: Responsive. Resourceful. Resilient.
Effective communication and seamless co-ordination are at the top of our ‘essentials’ list – think of this role as being like the conductor of an orchestra. We are committed to continuous improvement and have high standards, so we need someone who is proactive, solutions-orientated and consistent. You’ll also need to be comfortable working at pace without compromising on detail.
If you’re our ideal candidate, you’ll also be:
- Proficient in IT and happy using multiple systems – but you won’t be fazed by some being work in progress. Extra brownie points if you are familiar with Simpro.
- Commercial in your thinking, and assertive in your approach – but very much a team-player.
- Experienced in construction &/or engineering management. Better still: you’ll have previously worked in the electronic security industry
So, what’s in it for you…why should you join the CTSG team?
Your starting salary will be c£50k p.a., depending upon your personal experience and precise skills-base when you join us…. but if you truly make your mark, you’ll never need to worry about being underpaid. We will also have regular conversations with you about your priorities in life and how we can support you in achieving any life goals, as we know money isn’t likely to be your main motivator. We are a progressive business that appreciates the importance of balance; there’s no denying that this will be a pretty hardcore role which is likely to feel overwhelming at times, so we think it’s important to let loose and have some fun, too – hopefully you’ll like the sound of our team socials and celebrations of success!
At CTSG you’ll never be ‘just an employee’. Our team comes first and we genuinely care about each and every person that works with us. We’ll make the effort to get to know you and learn how we can bring out your best, and we’ll expect the same of you when it comes to leading your team. We have a structure within the business but no real hierarchy when it comes to getting the job done – this is definitely no place for egos! We don’t care what you look like or what your hobbies are (but incase you’re interested, our current team includes petrol heads, music-lovers, self-confessed geeks, golfers, foodies & hikers) but what does matter, is the enthusiasm with which you embrace our values and contribute positively to a company that is riding a steep change curve.
We understand that life can be challenging outside of work, too, and we really value the wellbeing of everyone in the team, so as part of our benefits package we will offer you membership to Westfield Health. There’s plenty more on offer, including a bonus day off on us to celebrate your Birthday. We can tell you more when we meet you…but you need to apply, first! If you think this could be the role for you, please do forward your updated CV and a quick cover note telling us why. Our email address is: recruitment@ctsg.tech.
CTSG is an equal opportunities employer, committed to a culture of equity and inclusion. If you have any additional requirements, please feel confident in speaking to us about these.
Also, just to let you know….we’re all about unlocking people potential here at CTSG, and transferable skills are always welcome. We are looking for talented and enthusiastic team players to join us as we grow, and we welcome speculative applications – we’d be delighted to have a chat with anyone who thinks we could be a good match for them.
