Picture this: Working outside in the glorious UK countryside as part of a small but perfectly formed team. Driving a utility vehicle and operating machinery. Physical graft, but with enough mental stimulation to keep your grey matter active too.
If this sounds appealing, please read on! We are looking for a Project Engineer to join us, working within our specialist renewable energy team. Our office is located in Northampton, but you’ll be field-based (often, literally) working throughout the UK, installing end to end security solutions at utility grade solar power plants. You will be responsible for the practical implementation and supervision of the works and on a day-to-day basis this will typically involve the installation of buried services such as armoured cables, ducting and fibre optic cables. You’ll also be required to erect equipment mounting poles, terminate armoured cables and mount security products. To do all of this, you will need to be trained in the use of mini excavators, skid steer loaders and multiple machine attachments. Previous experience in a similar role would be a huge help – as would you holding CSCS and CPCS/NPORS – but it isn’t essential as we’re more than happy to teach you what we need you to know. In fact, you’ll be mentored for the first few months by our MD who loves nothing more than getting out on site with the team. He isn’t the ‘suited and booted, sat behind a big desk’ kind of fella; he has lots of knowledge to pass on and will support your development in this role.
You’ll need to be practically minded and not afraid of long days or the worst of the British weather – but it’s your appetite for being a key player within a committed, can-do and collaborative team that is vital. CTSG is led by our values, and by a team of highly experienced, energetic and entrepreneurial engineers. We have a big heart, and huge ambition – but we will never compromise the fantastic reputation that we have gained, so you sharing our dedication to delighting our clients is a must. We will also expect you to be solutions-oriented, respectful and reliable with excellent communication skills, fantastic attention to detail and a commitment to safe working practices.
Once you are up to speed you will be working as a duo, accompanied by an Assistant Engineer who will take their lead from you. At CTSG you’ll never be ‘just an employee’. Our team comes first and we genuinely care about each and every person that works with us. We’ll make the effort to get to know you and learn how we can bring out your best. If you like the thought of building a career with us, we’ll do everything we can to support your progression. We’ll create a structured, personalised development path just for you and we will encourage you to think as a future leader of our business from Day 1. But if you’re not the ambitious type, it’s not an issue…. We don’t care what you look like or what your hobbies are (but incase you’re interested, our current team includes self-confessed geeks, petrol heads, golfers, hikers and more…all united by a love of pizza!). What does matter, is your readiness to embrace our values and contribute positively to a company that is riding a change curve.
As open-minded as we are, there are a few non-negotiables. It’s critical that you have a solid knowledge of basic hand tools and you’ll need to be a competent driver with a full UK license as you will be driving 4×4 utility vehicles and towing 3.5 tonne trailers loaded with plant and machinery to/from job sites. Your flexibility to travel and work away from home is essential, too, as our projects are located throughout the UK – but trust us, we’ll look after you. We think it’s a pretty good deal as you’ll receive travel pay, expenses, and overtime as appropriate.
On top of working in a friendly, highly supportive, and fun environment, you can expect so much more. We offer a competitive starting salary of £30,000-£34,000 and if you flourish, we’ll ensure you are never underpaid. We believe in rewarding members of our team according to their overall contribution; so if your attitude is awesome and we can depend upon you to deliver, you’ll never need to ask us for a payrise. We will also have regular conversations with you about your priorities in life, and how we can support you in achieving any life goals.
Naturally, you’ll be provided with all the tools you need to get the job done, including a vehicle. We know you have a life outside of work, so it’s fine by us if you use this for private mileage, too. Plus, a mobile phone and the appropriate tech devices will be made available to you, of course.
On top of that, you can expect to join a progressive business that appreciates the importance of balance – we’re here for the good as well as the grind, so we’re hoping you like the sound of CTSG socials and our monthly celebrations of success. We also get that life can be challenging outside of work and we really value the wellbeing of everyone in the business; if flexible working is something that you are after then please be open with us about that and we’ll do what we can to support you.
There’s plenty more on offer, too, including a bonus day off on us to celebrate your Birthday. We can tell you more when we meet you…but you need to apply, first! If you like the thought of working with us, please get in touch – we’d love to receive your CV and a quick cover letter telling us why. Our email address is: recruitment@ctsg.tech.
We’re all about unlocking people potential here at CTSG, and transferable skills are always welcome! We are looking for talented and enthusiastic team players to join us as we grow and we welcome speculative applications – we’d be delighted to have a chat with anyone who thinks we could be a good match for them.
CTSG is an equal opportunities employer, committed to a culture of equity and inclusion.
